Are you traveling to Las Vegas for the first time? It may be overwhelming. But one thing about Sin City is that there's something for everyone, regardless of the budget.

To help you plan for your first visit, I have compiled a list of 10 tips and tricks. Read on.

#1. Know Your Bearings

Las Vegas has two main areas. The first is Downtown/ Old Vegas, the original gambling district. It's in the north of the Strip and centers around Fremont Street. Fremont Street is a Vegas Gem, and you shouldn't go without seeing the Fremont Street Experience.

The second area is the Las Vegas Strip. It's the central tourist zone, and the most iconic casinos and hotels are here. The Strip on Las Vegas Boulevard stretches 4.2 miles from the STRAT Tower on the north side to the "Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas Nevada" sign and the Mandalay Bay on the south.

#2. Stay on the Strip Or Nearby

If you want to be at the heart of Vegas, then staying at the Strip or nearby is your best option. It'll give you easy access to the best attractions and sights. Think of hotels like Paris Las Vegas Hotel, The Flamingo, Caesars Palace, The LINQ, and many more.

#3. Know Resort Fees

Check the resort fees of the hotel you want to book before you book. The daily fee, when added up, may surprise you in some cases. The more expensive the hotel, the higher the resort fees. Do your research.

#4. Enjoy Free Vegas Attractions by Walking the Strip

A secret I want to tell you is that the best way to explore Las Vegas is by simply walking the Strip and exploring the casinos. You can enjoy a lot of free attractions like the Bellagio Fountains, the Bellagio Conservatory Gardens, and the Flamingo Wildlife Habitat, among many others.

#5. Wear Comfortable Shoes

If you're thinking of wearing high heels to look glamorous, then trust me; don't, unless you don't plan to walk around much. You'll ruin your entire visit by wearing the wrong shoes. Wear comfortable and appropriate footwear so your feet won't be sore. You may do a lot of walking, and you'll need to be comfortable. Walk around the casinos around 2 am, and you'll see a stream of barefoot partygoers clutching their heels.

#6. Carry Water, a Sweater, and Sun Protection

Las Vegas is a desert, and the sun may become extremely harsh. So, carry a sun hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen. Make sure you have water. Also, be prepared for cold AC indoors when entering a restaurant, shop, or casino.

#7. Do Your Research and Prepare

Las Vegas has so much to offer that it could be a lot to take in for the first time. Of course, when you come for the first time, you'll want to come for a second time, and a third, and so on. My tip for you is to prepare an itinerary.

Know the places that don't open before noon, the prices of dishes that the many world-class restaurants offer, and do your bookings online to save time. Depending on what you want and your time, think about visiting nature destinations outside the city. There are many of them, including Red Rock Canyon and Lake Mead.

#8. Don't Rent a Car Unless You Need To

There are many transportation options in Las Vegas. But if you're planning your first visit, you shouldn't rent a car unless you're visiting nature attractions outside the city, like Hoover Dam. It's expensive and unnecessary. You can opt for organized tours. If you rent a car, understand that there'll also be high parking fees on the Strip. Opt for Uber/Lyft rides instead.

#9. Big Bus Las Vegas

Since you're visiting Las Vegas for the first time, hopping on the Big Bus Las Vegas is a great way to know the city in a short time. It won't make your feet sore, and you'll get to see the city's main attractions and sights.

#10. Budget Your Spending

Always budget your spending in Vegas, especially if you plan on gambling. You may blow through your hard-earned money without enjoying your visit if you don't. Be sure to fill your time with free attractions and visit as many places as possible.
