The Las Vegas Aces battled to get their season back on track Sunday against the Chicago Sky, but a late three-pointer and some bad defense seemed to seal their fate.

The 0-1 Las Vegas Aces continued their season against the Chicago sky over the weekend, and while the team showed a lot of promise, a late series of mistakes, lousy defense, and a poor play ended up being their undoing.  The Aces were up by ten points late in the fourth quarter but watched their lead crumble in a matter of minutes.

Where did things go wrong, though? The exact moment things seemed to turn for the Aces was after Dearica Hamby's layup that put the team ahead by two points. From there, the Aces would go 0-10 in the field and turned the ball over three times. What seemed to seal their fate was a late three-pointer by Allie Quigley, which left the Sky up by two.

The Chicago Sky would go on to win 88-86 in what was a tightly contested game at times and ended up falling to 0-2.  The Aces showed a lot of strength through without star center Liz Cambage and guard, Kelsey Plum. In fact, the Las Vegas team was up by double digits at multiple points and even maintained this lead throughout most of the game.

A'ja'ja Wilson scored 22 points, grabbed 11 rebounds, and had four assists while teammate, Angel McCoughtry scored 25 points, two assists and brought down eight rebounds for the team. Deandry Hamby, who scored the Aces last two points of the game, finished with 14 points, one assist and eight rebounds for the team.

The Las Vegas Aces will now move on to the Atlanta Dream Wednesday night in what will hopefully be their first win of the 2020 season. It won't be easy without Plum and Cambage, but McCoughtry and Wilson's numbers were a promising sign that the Aces don't have that much of a problem on offense. The challenge for the Aces seems to be their lack of defense at times and coming up with key plays when it matters.

Hopefully, all that will change against the Dream, but if it doesn't, the Aces will fall to 0-3 and will need to work that much harder just to make the postseason.
