Plaza Casino Gets Its First Five Guys
Downtown Las Vegas is getting a serious burger upgrade this summer, and honestly, it's about time. Five Guys is moving into the Plaza Hotel & Casino, bringing their famous fresh-cut fries and made-to-order burgers right to the casino floor. After searching for a downtown spot for ten years, they finally found their perfect home on Main Street.
The 2,200 square foot restaurant will seat 60 guests with both indoor seating and an outdoor patio - because let‘s face it, sometimes you need fresh air with your burger. They’re promising the full Five Guys experience: hand-cut fries, handspun milkshakes, and those burgers that come wrapped in foil like little presents. This will be their 12th Nevada location but their first venture into downtown Las Vegas.
Hot Dogs Under the Dome
Here‘s where things get interesting - Five Guys isn’t just opening a restaurant. They're also setting up a hot dog cart right under Plaza's iconic dome next to the Carousel Bar. These aren‘t your average carnival dogs either. They split them lengthwise, grill them for maximum flavor, and serve them on toasted buns with hand-prepped toppings. The aroma alone should draw people in from Fremont Street.
Jonathan Jossel, CEO of the Plaza, explained that they’re committed to offering first-class food options, and Five Guys‘ dedication to handmade, high-quality food makes them stand out in downtown Las Vegas. Lucas Mitchell, the Five Guys franchisee, mentioned they’re excited to celebrate their 40th anniversary serving burgers on Main Street.
What This Means for Downtown
As someone who‘s watched downtown Las Vegas evolve over the years, this feels like another step in the right direction. The Plaza has been working hard to refresh its offerings, and adding a recognizable, quality chain like Five Guys shows they’re serious about competing with the newer properties. The Plaza Hotel & Casino has always been a bit of an underdog in the downtown scene, but moves like this help level the playing field.
The restaurant will be open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 2 a.m., which is perfect for those late-night gambling munchies. They'll also offer takeout and delivery - because sometimes you just want to eat your burger in your hotel room without judgment.
A Neighborhood Win
This isn‘t just good news for tourists stumbling around Fremont Street at midnight. For those of us who actually live here, having another solid food option downtown means more reasons to venture off the Strip. The Plaza might not have the flashy bells and whistles of some newer properties, but they understand what people actually want: good food, reasonable prices, and a place where you can relax without feeling like you need to dress up.
The hot dog cart launching this spring should be a nice preview of what’s to come when the full restaurant opens this summer.
