OOF Meets BOOFIE

OOF Meets BOOFIE

Las Vegas has a way of producing unexpected second acts, and Kasey Matthews Johnson might have one of the most wholesome.

The retired Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department lieutenant has just released a new children’s book, “BOOF Meets BOOFIE,” trading the badge and briefing room for colorful illustrations and a story about friendship, fresh starts, and making better choices.

The book follows Boof, an “adorable furry white worm,” who meets a new friend named Boofie. The two bond over their similar appearances and shared pasts, learning how to move forward on more positive paths — a message that feels surprisingly universal, even without sirens involved.

Now living in Montana with her family, Johnson describes the story as uplifting and playful, aimed at encouraging kids to stay open to new friendships and good decisions. The book is brought to life with bright artwork by illustrator NM Starling, making it an easy, engaging read for younger audiences.

“BOOF Meets BOOFIE” is available at major booksellers including Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Apple Books, and Google Play.

From Metro to Montana — and now to the children’s section — consider this one more reminder that Las Vegas stories don’t always end where you expect.
