Rockabilly Returns to Vegas This April

The Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Weekend celebrates its 29th year this April, making it officially the longest-running music festival in Las Vegas. As someone who‘s watched this city evolve over the decades, I can tell you that few events have the staying power of this throwback extravaganza. The four-day festival brings together everything that made the 1950s swing – and I mean everything.

This year’s lineup reads like a who's who of rockabilly royalty. Big Sandy & The Flyrite Boys, Dale Watson, and Jason D. Williams headline a roster of over 40 bands spanning rock ‘n’ roll, rhythm & blues, doo-wop, and western swing. Linda Gail Lewis – Jerry Lee's sister – adds some serious musical pedigree to the mix. The variety is impressive, from The Jive Aces to Carlos & The Bandidos, ensuring there's something for every vintage music lover.

More Than Music

What sets this festival apart isn't just the incredible musical lineup – it's the complete immersion experience. The vintage car show features only vehicles built before 1964, each restored to period-correct perfection. Trust me, seeing these beauties lined up while rockabilly tunes fill the air is pure Vegas magic.

The festival includes three days of pool parties, which in April weather sounds absolutely perfect. Add in 20 record hops for serious dancing, burlesque shows, and vendor markets, and you've got a weekend that transports you straight back to the Eisenhower era. The Queen of the Car Show Competition and jiving classes round out the offerings.

Vegas Does Vintage Right

Living in Vegas means you see plenty of themed events come and go, but this one has earned its longevity. The organizers understand that authenticity matters – from the pre-1964 car requirement to booking bands that truly capture that 1950s sound. Tom Ingram, who‘s been involved with the festival, calls it “The Greatest 50’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Event you will ever attend,” and honestly, after nearly three decades, they've got the formula down.

The burlesque competition adds that perfect touch of vintage Vegas glamour we locals remember from the old days. It‘s refreshing to see an event that celebrates our city’s entertainment heritage rather than just chasing the latest trend.

Get Your Tickets Now

Tickets are selling quickly through the official website, which makes sense given the festival‘s reputation. After 29 years, word gets around about events that deliver on their promises. For locals looking for something different from the usual Strip offerings, or visitors wanting an authentic slice of vintage Americana, this April weekend promises to be special.

Whether you’re into the music, the cars, the dancing, or just the overall atmosphere, Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Weekend offers a genuine community experience that‘s become rarer in our rapidly changing city. Sometimes the best entertainment is the kind that’s been perfected over time.
