Las Vegas Mixtape v45: Elvis’ Honolulu Bash, Italian Delights, and Catching An ‘80s Wave

Track #4 (of 5): Kura Revolving Sushi Bar @Chinatown

You could become hypnotized watching the sushi go round and round here. (Image: Vegas 411)

There’s something exhilarating about helping yourself to sushi from a revolving conveyor belt. Like the one at Kura Revolving Sushi Bar at Shanghai Plaza, where the “flavors are on the move” (their fun slogan). Quick—you gotta make your sushi choice (enclosed in their “patented Mr. Fresh™ ventilated sushi lid”) or wait until it comes around again. But if someone else who’s seated elsewhere happens to choose what you want, you may have to keep waiting. It’s a crazy little game to play while the world goes utterly sideways.

The revolving offerings here are priced at $3.65 each and include yuzu jalapeno sweet shrimp, macha umami oil salmon, and American wagyu roll, along with watermelon slices and desserts like New York cheesecake and “Gooey Buttercake.” The grade of sushi matches the price point (this is not, ahem, Nobu).

You can begin eating within seconds of sitting down here. Just reach over and grab it. (Image: Vegas 411)

If eating off a conveyor belt is not your thing, use the touchpad at your table to order handrolls, noodles as well as hot (chicken gyoza, softshell crab tempura) and cold (sashimi, cucumber salad) sides. Kura’s website touts its 84 US locations with 14 more coming soon. It looks to be unstoppable.
